Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have a lesson every week?

We find weekly lessons are great for keeping you motivated, and to consistently progress from lesson to lesson. Particularly as a beginner, we recommend shorter weekly sessions.
You can still make great progress with fortnightly lessons, or even monthly as a more experienced singer, however we would recommend a slightly longer session in this instance.

Do I need any special equipment for online lessons?

The most fantastic part about online lessons is that you do not need to invest in extra equipment to join in! Using your own device, for example a tablet, phone or laptop, and its built in camera and microphone, you're good to go! We use Zoom for online sessions which is free to download, and we can advise on any settings you might need to alter to get the best sound quality at both ends of the call. It really is as simple as that!

I'm completely tone deaf, is it possible for me to learn to sing?

At Central Song Studio, we believe absolutely anyone can learn to sing. With the right, personalised, guidance toward proper singing techniques, practice and trust in the process, anyone can acquire the physical coordination to sing well, just like any other physical activity.

Will I have to do exams?

We place absolutely no pressure on any student to sit external exams at Central Song Studio. If you do feel that graded examinations are something you are interested in, your tutor will advise what style of exam might suit you best and what grade is most appropriate.

Do you offer group sessions?

If you would feel more comfortable booking a lesson with friends or family, we can offer special arrangements and discounted sessions for individuals in a group. You will still receive the same high quality of teaching, and can book to come to one of our venues (group number permitting), or can sing with group members in separate locations if option for an online session. Contact us for more information on booking a group lesson.

What if I need to cancel or rearrange my lessons?

If you need to cancel or rearrange your lesson for any reason, we try to be as accommodating as possible and hope to be able to offer an alternative time to suit you as quickly as possible. All we ask is that you give as much notice as possible, and not less than 24hrs as a minimum, or you will still be charged for your lesson.
